Two Ways to Boost Brainrot Income
Drill Blocks for Brainrots offers two independent modifier systems: mutations (permanent visual variants with CPS multipliers) and traits (event-granted tags with temporary or conditional bonuses). Understanding both — and how they interact — is essential for building a plot that prints cash. Dive deeper in our dedicated mutations and traits database pages.
All Mutations Explained
Mutations roll naturally when brainrots spawn. You cannot apply them manually. Each mutation adds a label under the unit name and increases earning rate plus sell value:
- Gold — Most common mutation. Moderate multiplier, easy to find while drilling any zone.
- Diamond — Uncommon upgrade over Gold. Strong mid-game income boost.
- Galaxy — Rare cosmic variant. Worth replacing same-rarity vanilla units immediately.
- Lava — Very rare. Often tied to Volcanic events but can spawn globally at low rates.
- Rainbow — Chase tier. Highest mutation multiplier; stream-worthy finds.
Mutation rates increase slightly in deeper zones and during admin events. Farm rare brainrots in event windows for the best shot at Lava and Rainbow.
All Event Traits Explained
Traits come from live weather events announced server-wide. Only one trait applies per brainrot — you cannot stack Bubblegum and Bloodmoon on the same unit. Known trait tiers from the genre (verify in-game after patches):
- Volcanic — Volcanic Event, roughly 4× cash multiplier
- Starfall — Starfall Event, roughly 5× cash multiplier
- Bloodmoon — Bloodmoon Event, roughly 6× cash multiplier
- Bubblegum — Bubblegum Event, roughly 7× cash multiplier
Events rotate without a fixed public schedule. Watch the events page and in-game skybox changes. When an event starts, drop everything and drill — trait units despawn when the event ends.
Stacking Rules: Mutation + Trait
A brainrot can hold one mutation and one trait simultaneously. Multipliers typically multiply together: a Diamond mutation on a Bloodmoon-trait Legendary produces absurd CPS that single-modifier units cannot match. This is the end-game build goal referenced in best builds.
You cannot add a second trait or reroll mutations with standard gameplay. Plan around what you catch — perfectionists server-hop during events.
How to Identify Modifiers
Read the text under the brainrot nameplate. Mutations show labels like "Golden" or "Diamond." Traits show event names like "Bloodmoon." Color shaders and particle effects reinforce the tag — Galaxy units shimmer purple; Lava units glow orange. When in doubt, compare CPS in the CPS calculator before replacing plot units.
Farming Strategy Summary
- Baseline drill in your deepest sustainable zone for passive mutation rolls.
- During events, prioritize trait captures over vanilla high-rarity drops if the trait multiplier exceeds the rarity gap.
- Replace plot units bottom-up: swap weakest Common first, keep Diamond+ units until a strict upgrade appears.
- Sell only duplicate vanilla units — never trait or Rainbow fodder without checking resale value.
Mutations and traits define the difference between a mid-game account and a leaderboard plot. Pair this guide with offline earnings so your best units keep generating while you sleep.
