Brainrot Mutations

Every brainrot mutation in Drill Blocks for Brainrots. Multipliers, spawn rates, visual IDs, and farming tips for Gold through Rainbow.

What Are Mutations?

Mutations are rare visual variants of brainrots that boost CPS and sell value. They spawn naturally in the world — no crafting required. When a mutated brainrot appears, a label such as "Golden" or "Diamond" displays under its name alongside unique shaders and particles.

Mutations exist independently of traits. A unit can carry one mutation and one trait simultaneously for multiplicative income. Full stacking rules live in the mutations & traits guide.

Mutation Tier List & Multipliers

MutationRelative PowerSpawn FrequencyVisual ID
Gold1.25×Most common mutationGold shader, "Golden" tag
DiamondUncommonIce-blue sparkle, "Diamond" tag
GalaxyRarePurple cosmic particles, "Galaxy" tag
LavaVery rareOrange magma glow, "Lava" tag
Rainbow10×Ultra rareCycling colors, "Rainbow" tag

Exact multiplier numbers change in balance patches. Compare live CPS with the CPS calculator rather than memorizing stale values.

Collection Bonus at 75%

Collect 75% of all brainrots in a mutation dex line to earn a permanent +0.5× cash multiplier for that mutation type. Bonuses stack across Gold, Diamond, Galaxy, Lava, and Rainbow lines. Full walkthrough on the mutation collection guide.

Equip the Echo of the Forgotten Name artifact for +8% mutation spawn chance while filling dex entries — see artifacts.

How to Get Mutations

Every brainrot spawn rolls a mutation chance. You improve odds indirectly — not with a dedicated mutation button:

  • Drill deeper zones for slightly better mutation weights on higher base rarities.
  • Farm during admin events or boosted spawn weekends when developers crank global rates.
  • Stack rebirth multipliers — some patches tie rare spawn rates to rebirth count.
  • Play during Volcanic events for elevated Lava spawn rumors (verify per patch).

There is no guaranteed pity system in most brainrot tycoons. Persistence and event timing beat single-session luck.

Which Mutations to Keep

Never auto-sell Gold or Diamond units until your plot is full of equal-or-better modifiers. Replace weakest plot brainrots first using the tier list as a rarity baseline, then upgrade by mutation tier.

Rainbow and Lava units on high base rarities are long-term accounts holders — even if a new patch adds stronger names, mutation multipliers usually keep them relevant.

Mutations & Rebirth

Rebirth requirements count base rarity, not mutation tier. A Rainbow Common satisfies a "Common" gate but not an "Epic" gate. Plan rebirth brainrot requirements using vanilla rarity labels — see how to rebirth.

Comparison to Similar Games

Drill Blocks for Brainrots shares mutation names with Drill for Brainrots (Gold, Diamond, Galaxy, Lava, Rainbow) because the genre standardized these tiers. Multipliers and spawn logic are unique to GoldenClover Studios — do not assume identical rates across games.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I mutate a brainrot after catching it?

Not through normal gameplay. Mutations apply at spawn only.

What is the rarest mutation?

Rainbow is the rarest standard mutation, with Lava close behind.

Do mutations stack with traits?

Yes. One mutation plus one trait per brainrot, with multipliers typically multiplying together.

Are Gold mutations worth keeping?

Yes in early and mid game. Replace them gradually as Diamond, Galaxy, or higher drops arrive.

Do mutations affect offline earnings?

Yes. Mutation CPS multipliers apply to offline accrual for placed units.
